Make a slight change in your career direction

One of the newest members of my April coaching group, Beth, reminded our group of an important lesson this week. You don’t always have to throw the baby out with the bathwater in your career transition. Sometimes just making a slight change in your career direction is all you need to find a career that is right for you.

Here is Beth’s story:

Beth went back to a career that she had done before and didn’t like (a pricing position), but this time she liked it a lot more because she was with a new company. Her manager and the corporate culture was a lot better with this new organization. She was pleasantly surprised. Now both the culture and the tasks were a fit for Beth.

Remember, culture and management style are a very important piece to your career satisfaction. Keep this in mind when you’re looking for your new career. You may be able to do something similar to what you were doing before, within a different organization, and it just might be the right fit for you! Thanks for sharing Beth.
