When the time comes to set your goals… make sure they have these characteristics:
- Tangible – Make it specific and tangible so you know exactly what you’re going for.
- Measurable – How will you know when you’ve achieved the goal?
- Realistic and a Stretch – Make sure your goals should be achievable, yet also a stretch so you’re pushing yourself beyond what you’d normally do in order to move forward.
- Have a Deadline – A goal without a deadline is a wish or “I hope to have this.” Make it real by setting a deadline.
Set your big goals, then break those down into smaller goals which can be feasibly achieved by a certain time. This process will allow you to stick to your plan without feeling overwhelmed by a sense of vagueness and “how am I going to get there?!”
