I was in a funk last week for a few days. Feeling unmotivated and downright cranky sometimes. One day I was having twinges of pain from being pregnant plus I was starving, and I ended up being snippy to my husband and my mom. When I get this way I tend to become tense and tight, and wrapped up in what I perceive is a bad situation that feels like it will never end. Ok maybe that’s a little dramatic, but you get the point.
I think when anyone feels this way, you can become absorbed with how you’re feeling at the moment. And it can seem like it’s going to last forever. When one thing bad happens to a client, they tend to engage in the "it’s all going down the toilet" syndrome. They start to focus on all the other things that aren’t going their way in their life. I like to remind them that – this too shall pass. Everything can change in the blink of an eye, and however bad a situation is, it will change.
So catch yourself this week if you do this same thing. Don’t go down the toilet! If one bad thing happens, prevent yourself from focusing on all of the other not so great things. Instead try one of these tips: turn your attention to something that is going well, remind yourself that this too shall pass, or go do something that you enjoy that will distract you and improve your mood.
Have a great week!
Hallie,
Let me help you find a new focus!
