Sometimes we start a new job and the work environment is not what we expected or hoped. Other times our co-workers or management is not as helpful as we would like them to be. Before you throw in the towel or give into fears that you made the wrong choice, give it a chance and some time to adjust. New job nerves are normal, as is a learning curve and adjustment period. Some of the steps you can take to help rectify the problem are easier than you think.
Take some time to get to know your co-workers and understand their personality type and work style. Give yourself time to learn about your new work environment and company culture, and how you can adapt to it if needed (as long as you don’ t have to become someone else in order to do that!) . Take a few of your new co-workers to lunch to discover how things get done and what the management style is. Don’t just do the work, pay attention to how it is getting done.
