I wanted to share this really helpful article for recent grads about their job search, A Career Letter to the Class of 2012.
Two things I want to point out or re-iterate:
-
Pick up the phone. This is so accurate. In this day and age of texting, emailing etc., making a phone call makes a big impression. It shows you are confident, assertive and remember that people hire people, not paper. So it allows you to establish a better networking connection with the person you’re reaching out to.
-
Don’t be afraid to ask for help from your networking contacts. They can’t help you unless they know what you need help with. So be specific, don’t be shy and ask for what you need. As long as you’re professional about it and not pushy, you’ll be fine!
