Your Year-End Worksheet to Start the New Year Strong

Your Career Performance Review

As the year comes to a close, we want to thank you for allowing us to be part of your career journey. This season is a natural time for reflection, clarity, and intention setting. Taking a step back to review your growth, challenges, and lessons can help you begin the new year with focus and confidence.

To support you in that process, we’ve created this Year-End Worksheet—a simple, effective way to close out the year, acknowledge what you’ve accomplished, and identify what you want to carry forward. Feel free to share it with anyone who may benefit. We’re grateful for you, and we look forward to continuing to support you in the year ahead.

Before you begin: We recommend blocking 30 minutes on your calendar to complete the worksheet without distractions. Giving yourself dedicated space makes the reflection process more meaningful and productive.

Reflect on the Past Year

Wins and Gains This Year. List everything you accomplished this year—big or small. Identify which items are complete and which should carry into next year.

Breakthroughs and Learnings. Write down lessons, insights, and moments of clarity from this year. Ask yourself: How will next year look different because of what I’ve learned?

Losses or Disappointments. Consider the goals you didn’t achieve:

  • Do they still fit/belong on your list of goals?
  • What losses or disappointments did you experience?
  • Is there anything you need to acknowledge, grieve, or close out so you can move forward with a clear mindset?

Five Lessons and Goals to Take From This Year into Next Year

From your reflection above, identify the five most important lessons and goals you want to carry with you into the new year. Consider how these influence your annual goals or Strategic Career Plan. If you’d like help creating or refining your plan, we’re here to support you.

Create a Clear Vision for the Year Ahead

As you begin planning for the year ahead, picture your professional life 12 months from now. What do you want it to look like? Think about:

  • The type of work you’re doing
  • The strengths and skills you’re using
  • The way you want to feel at work
  • The progress you want to make in your career

Once you’ve envisioned your destination, work backward. Identify goals across each area of our Ideal Career Model™ that will help you move toward that vision.

Pro Tip: Revisit this worksheet and your Strategic Career Plan again in early January. Reviewing your insights with a fresh mindset helps you set clear priorities for the year and stay aligned with your long-term vision.
